Announcing the arrival of the No 2 Deck

As of the end of July 2025, there are now two Wisdom of Wild Cornwall Decks - the Original, which I wrote about in detail below, and the No 2 deck.

These cards are similar to my other three decks in that they each have a simple word, and a colour, and are prompts for you to access your inner wisdom. At the same time, they are very different. The idea arose from a comment made by a regular in the 'Dare to Blossom into Joy' group on Facenbook (Click here if you would like to join us to see a word of the day), who saw 'Purpose' as 'Porpoise'.

From there a creative flow began of 'wild wisdom' words, people suggested all sorts of animals I could include, including exotic ones. After reflection, I decided to focus on the aspects of the wild I encounter close to home - on my walks on the cliffs or in the woods and valleys of Cornwall, and in my garden. At first I thought I would write a companion guide first, but on a magic carpet ride meditation by myself, I was firmly told to create the cards and have printed copies in my hands before doing that.

Once I received them, I realised they wanted to be out in the world and a guide could come later, if at all. When I said this deck is very different - this applies to the appearance: I have created a new card back, replacing my favourite 'Dare to Blossom passionflower' with one of my photos of wild Cornwall, the beach and surf at Constatine Bay. Also, there are already many decks with interpretations of animal symbolism - and people may well choose to refer to those to explore more deeply. I hope that the first stop will be your own response, a direct connection to your own experience of the animal the word represents, and the colour on the card with it.

Connect with your playful creativity

The idea for these cards popped up - as ideas often do - while I was out walking on the cliffs one day. At first I thought that surely the two decks of Dare to Blossom Cards I have already created are enough, who needs another one? (scroll down to read more about those.)

However, the creative muse would not have any of that - the ideas for words kept popping up and very quickly the new deck emerged, was printed and is now here ready for you. One of my fastest creative processes ever - it all happened in less than three weeks.

The Rediscovery Cards are a pack of fifty cards, each with a single word on a background colour. The word may be significant on the day you draw it, or the colour, or the combination. They can be focus for meditation, free-writing and reflection. People develop their own ways of using them for themselves and their families (see the 'Rediscovery Stories' for examples). Most days I post a reflection on a 'card of the day' on the Dare to Blossom Facebook page - do join me there.

I developed them in late 2011 to use at a programme of workshops I was planning in 2012. They proved so popular that people asked if they could buy their own set. They will arrive in an organza bag with a simple information sheet enclosed.

The purpose of this book is not to tell you how to use the cards, or to lay down any rules. It offers some structured questions for you to ask yourself as you draw a card (or open the book at random). I have also shared some experiences - mine and those of others - as an additional companion along the way for you.

For years, people have been asking me to publish a second set of 50 cards. Now I have achieved that, and realised it is just about ten years since I developed the original deck. At first I just used them in my workshops, but people soon began asking to buy them and a year or so later, they were on sale.
